The Internshala Training report shows how young graduates are advancing their careers through corporate communication skills.
Internshala’s e-learning arm Internshala Trainings recently published a report that tends to teach young graduates a tendency to learn professional communication skills. The platform has recorded a massive increase of 90 percent in enrollment in communication skills training in the last 1 year.
Interestingly, 63 per cent of the total enrollment in the training was done by female students from Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune and Hyderabad. It is a powerful indicator of how women are constantly striving to learn effective communication techniques, focusing on fluency and pronunciation, avoiding communication barriers and mastering their speaking, writing, presentation, English communication and interpersonal skills at work.
The report further suggested that 49 percent of all enrollment students made it to a new skill set. This can range from understanding the importance of body language and mastering active listening skills to learning biography writing, writing cover letters, drafting emails or the necessary interview skills. Thirty percent of students intended to get a future internship or job after polishing communication skills in their workplace.
The demand for corporate communication skills has also increased dramatically in 2020-21 among recruiters working from office-to-office or from home to home. More than 62,000 internship opportunities have been posted for popular profiles, including content writing, business development (sales), marketing, social media marketing, and digital marketing, with English proficiency (spoken and written) as a major skill claimed. This is 41 percent more than what employers were looking for in 2017-18.
According to the report, when applying for internships in popular profiles, between 2020-21, more than 6.46 million students mentioned English (spoken and written) knowledge as a major skill in their CVs.
Academic counseling firms, ad-tech platforms, startup service providers, marketing and advertising agencies, and online media firms were the top recruiters looking for candidates’ English proficiency for most of their internship requirements.
