The East Delhi Municipal Corporation wants to offer a book about the Indian freedom fighters and the heroes of the Kargil war to the class 5 students of its school to instill in them a feeling of “patriotism” at an early age.
The BJP-led East Delhi Municipal Corporation plans to launch a book on Indian freedom fighters and Kargil war heroes among class 5 students at their school to instill a sense of “patriotism” in them at an early age, its mayor Shyam Sundar Agarwal said on Thursday.
The book titled ‘Bharat Ke Bir Senani’ has chapters of 20 revolutionaries including Bhagat Singh, Chandrasekhar Azad, Rani Lakshmi Bai, Udham Singh, he said.
The book also contains the life stories of six heroes of the Kargil conflict, including Captain Vikram Batra. The Kargil War between India and Pakistan took place in 1999, in which Captain Batra and several other Indian soldiers were killed.
“We plan to launch this book as part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ which marks the 75th year of India’s independence. Only 100 copies have been released so far, because we will do bulk production only after proper approval. We will need a budget for that too, ”Mr Agarwal said.
“If we introduce our (EDMC school) class 5 students to the story of the heroism and heroism of these freedom fighters and war heroes, it will instill a sense of patriotism in the students at an early age,” the mayor said.
