Educational institutions will be closed in Uttarakhand on Monday

Following a torrential rain alert issued for 13 districts of Uttarakhand on Monday, the district administration on Sunday ordered the closure of educational institutions including schools, colleges and Anganwari centers.

Most of the educational institutions across Uttarakhand will remain closed on Monday while trekking, mountaineering and camping activities in the high altitude areas of the state will be banned till Tuesday as a precautionary measure in view of the heavy rain warning issued by the Meteorological Department. .

Following the heavy rain warning issued for 13 districts of Uttarakhand on Monday, district administrations on Sunday ordered closure of educational institutions including schools, colleges and Anganwari centers.

The Chamoli district administration has banned all trekking, mountaineering and camping activities in the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve and the entire forest of Gopeshwar till October 19.

District-level games of Mahakumbh to be held on October 18-19 at Parade and Pavilion grounds in Dehradun have been canceled. They have been rescheduled for October 24 and 25.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, hail and high winds (60-70 kmph) are forecast for 13 districts of Uttarakhand including Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Pithoragarh. , Bageshwar, Almora, Nainitalk Champawat, Dehradun Tehri and Pauri.

The administrations of Chamoli, Uttarkashi and Rudraprayag districts have been asked to be extra vigilant as Chardham Jatra is underway in these districts.
