Educational placement processes are a hybrid reality

Due to the restrictions on campus due to the Covid Protocol, institutions have successfully moved to a hybrid mode of learning using technology that has evolved simultaneously.

Rashi Verma (fictional name), a 96 per cent holder who has cracked CAT 2020 and transformed several top B-schools, is scheduled for a personal interview (PI) in front of five bench management gurus. A month before his PII, Rashi was informed that due to the outbreak of the epidemic, the whole physical interview process would be practically held. He is now known as the placement process in a virtual format.

The Covid-19 epidemic has presented an unprecedented time that has changed the way institutions and educational institutions work. It opens up new modes and channels of information communication, process management and business – all in one hybrid reality. This blend of mainstream management processes combined with new ways of digital functionality is also gaining traction and shapes how management organizations plan and execute other important processes, including education and placement.

Hybrid classes and virtual placements

Due to the restrictions on campus due to the Covid Protocol, institutions have successfully moved to a hybrid mode of learning using technology that has evolved simultaneously. Efforts to give students a simple and enhanced virtual classroom experience in the classroom or at home. This eliminates the problem of some students not being able to attend the same class on campus and others off campus.

In the virtual placement process, organizations view the entire recruitment process as an evolving, and efficient form of job placement. From filing applications, sharing JD roles, evaluating and even appearing for personal interviews (PIs), the whole system is built on a dynamic virtual model. One advantage of this model is that it reduces operational difficulties. Companies no longer have to land on campus for the placement process. Mixed methods of combining physical onboarding tasks such as induction and orientation sessions can be held at company offices and processes that can be run remotely such as personal interviews, formal presentations, candidate evaluations, etc. can be practically held.

Cat relaxation

COVID-19 has accelerated the transformation in many areas, including competitive examinations held annually in virtual mode for admission to higher education institutions. Competitive and entrance exams, such as the Common Admission Test (CAT) taken by aspiring students for admission to top-level management institutes like IIM, have also been changed to reduce the pressure on students appearing for the exams.

Digital Age

The hybrid model finds its roots in the vast pool of digital frameworks used by each brand and organization to be visible in contemporary times. Digital technologies such as virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) have become increasingly important in recent years for performing tasks and processes other than entertainment purposes. For example, the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) uses VR to test candidates’ decision-making skills. CBA, Australia’s largest bank, has announced in an unusual way that it is bringing VR into their recruitment process through their virtual reality candidate experience that gives candidates experience of projects handled by employees and tests their ability to make quick, smart decisions. Similar applications are being used by several Indian companies.

The role of digital is inevitable and helps in a number of placement processes such as enabling students to do research on recruiting and incoming companies, finding application status, evaluating and mock interviews, answering topics in real-time, mapping results and more. .

Change is inevitable

B-schools in India are in the process of revising and adding new ways of learning Recently, management companies like IIM have started offering courses that revolve around digital technology. MBA programs are now offered in courses like one year MBA in Digital Enterprise Management at IIM Udaipur and many more. These B-schools are hosting a number of webinars and worldwide virtual events to emphasize the changing digital landscape.

This chain effect of enabling a digital-friendly ecosystem and providing a platform for educational institution placement, placement and other processes is enabling B-schools across the country to manage the epidemic.

So, in short, hybrid times call for a hybrid process.
