On Global Handwashing Day, Sesame Workshop, with the support of India Planet Water Foundation, spreads the message of sustainable hand hygiene practices.
Sesame Workshop India, the Indian branch of the worldwide educational non-profit Sesame Workshop, and the Planet Water Foundation are working together to strengthen the life-saving practice of hand washing. Sesame Workshop India has been working to meet the developmental needs of young children in India for over 15 years. As schools reopen and the number of COVID-19 cases decreases, it is important for children and caregivers not to let their guard down and continue safe practices such as hand washing, wearing masks and social distance.
Spotlighting the awareness of hand hygiene especially among young children and their families, Global Handwashing Day serves as an important reminder to people in India and beyond as an effective way to prevent life-threatening diseases.
A special song featuring children’s favorite Muppet Elmo, Cookie Monster and Abby is being published with the message of washing hands using soap.
The Planet Water Foundation is supporting Sesame Workshop India to further develop hand washing videos, e-books and posters as part of a global initiative to take care of each other. To encourage children to adopt these healthy behaviors, Sesame Workshop India has also reached out to social media influencers popular among children and carers with a view to making hand washing a safe and cool behavior.
