The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati has established the ‘Chair of Water Life Mission’ for water treatment technology. Professor Mihir Kumar Purkait has created and demonstrated several prototypes to supply iron, arsenic, fluoride and other contaminated free drinking water to the rural people of Assam with his patented innovative water treatment technology.
Arsenic and fluoride contamination in drinking water is a major and growing concern not only in rural Assam but also in major parts of the country and the technology at IIT Guwahati will assist and assist the Government of India in providing contaminated free drinking water to the people.
