IIT Mandi has signed a memorandum of understanding with AIIMS Bilaspur

The goal of the collaboration is to develop an academic exchange and collaboration program in education and research

The Indian Institute of Technology Mandi has collaborated with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bilaspur in research and academic activities. The two organizations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to conduct joint research activities and academic exchange activities.

The MoU was signed at a meeting between IIT Mandi Director Professor Ajit Chaturvedi; Dr. Bir Singh Negi, Director, AIIMS Bilaspur, and Dr. Venkata Krishnan, Dean (SRIC), IIT Mandi. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Vikrant Kanwar, Dy Medical Superintendent AIIMS Bilaspur and some faculty members of IIT Mandi.

Under this Memorandum of Understanding, the two organizations plan to work on joint research projects and engage in future short-term joint academic programs that allow researchers and students to visit and work collaboratively with other organizations.

Speaking on the collaboration, Prof. Ajit K. Chaturvedi, Director, IIT Mandi, said, “The collaboration between IIT Mandi and AIIMS Mandi, we look forward to working together and achieving excellence in the medical sciences for the betterment of society at large.”

Other key initiatives in the Memorandum of Understanding include:

– Joint international conferences, workshops and seminars on medicine and public health

– Exchanging information on relevant teaching and other literature with educational and research programs

– Connecting both parties to the medical industry, devices and equipment on the basis of mutual agreement and existing law.

Under the MoU, joint research and academic collaboration activities will cover various domains related to medical science and technology, including medical imaging, digital pathology, point-of-care testing devices, bioinformatics, endocrinology, biomaterials and telemedicine.

During the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding at IIT Mandi, the two organizations also discussed the future opportunities of technology translation in collaboration with industry partners to ensure that the benefits of the research reach the society at large.
