With India at the forefront of taking a global leadership position in the telecom sector, the Management Development Institute (MDI) Gurgaon has entered into an agreement with the National Telecommunication Institute for Policy Research Innovation and Training (NTIPRIT) to provide mid-career training to Indian telecom. NTIPRIT is a top tier training institute in the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). Under the agreement, MDI Gurgaon will perform the management component of Phase-II and Phase-III Mid-Career Training Program (MCTP) for 600 ITS officers.
Participants in the second phase of the program will be joint secretaries with 16 to 20 years of experience and higher level officials. Participants in the third phase of the program will have additional secretary level and above with about 25 to 30 years of experience.
The second phase of the program will have 400 participants who will also take one week of technical training at DoT. After that, they will complete a two-week management program at MDI Gurgaon. In addition, there is a foreign immersion in the Phase II program. Participants will complete a week-long training program at the University of Maryland School of Public Policy in the United States.
Kumar Singal, DDG (TM) of DoT, said that when these officers go abroad, they will be acquainted with the international global practice of telecom.
