Sriram Transport Finance Company (STFC) has partnered with Skill India to train 1000 drivers to ensure smooth and accident-free transportation of commercial vehicle financing oxygen tankers. Aiming to streamline the Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) tanker supply chain in the event of an epidemic, Sriram Transport Finance Company has launched a CSR initiative – Sriram Seva Sankalp LMO Driver Training. The goal of this campaign is to develop 1000 experienced heavy and medium vehicle drivers to carefully operate and transport cryogenic LMO tankers.

The Holistic Cryogenic Medical Oxygen Tanker Driver Training Program will provide trainees with all the other safety precautions, including deep immersion in theory, hands-on practice on the simulator, hazardous cargo tanker handling, and in-plant LMO loading and unloading. This will help create a pool of skilled operators to transport cryogenic medical oxygen tankers due to the growing importance in the medical management of Covid-19 across the hospital. Upon successful completion of the training program, drivers will be issued a certificate by the Logistic Skills Council.

With more than 500 drivers successfully completing their training in January 2022, the company aims to certify the remaining 500 drivers by March 2022. A short list of experienced heavy motor vehicle (HMV) drivers was approved for enrollment for the capacity building training program. Training Centers funded by Sriram Transport Finance Company Limited at multiple locations including Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu.
