Startups set up tinkering labs to increase creativity among students

Infinity National University Incubation Center has inaugurated a workplace for students.

Infinity National University today inaugurated the Tinkering Lab, a workplace for students to learn, experiment and develop their ideas into prototypes. Tinkering Lab is a part of Armb, the university’s recently established incubation center. The lab was inaugurated by M. Nagarajan, IAS, Commissioner Higher Education, Government of Gujarat Also present on the occasion were special guests Mr. Hiranmoy Mahanta, CEO, I-Hub.

In addition to Makerspace – a multi-disciplinary workshop and specialized studio, Tinkering Lab aims to nurture innovation and create problem-solving mentality in students. The lab has equipment like laser cutting machines, 3D printers, jigs, Arduino kits, soldering stations and much more. The Tinkering Lab aims to be a fully functional student-driven lab set-up at the Student Housing facility, thus allowing them to work conveniently round the clock.

With the inauguration, a group of 27 students were welcomed who have received proof of concept or prototype support for their innovative projects from the beginning. These were the selected entries from ‘The IDEA CONTEST’ launched by Gujarat Government in association with Student Startup and Innovation Policy (SSIP). These concepts provide innovative and sustainable solutions in a variety of areas such as health, education, waste management, sustainable clothing, urban farming, educational toys and games.
