Launches #HarkDombeticsong: What Leadership Waves 2021, Nationwide Campaign on Girls’ Education

Room to Read India runs a nationwide campaign called #HarkDombetiSang: Leadership Ki Tarang 2021- an influential, two-week campaign in solidarity with students across the country and in light of the upcoming International Girl Child Day on 11 October ’21. The first phase of the campaign was launched earlier this year in July, and the second phase started on 28th September ’21 and will continue till 12th October ’21 in 6 Indian states. A series of online and offline activities were implemented in Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Telangana and Uttarakhand.

Further, Room to Read India plans to do a podcast series called ‘Houseley Ki Dagger’ that tells the story of girls and women who have stood their ground during this adversity and despite many challenges, especially last year, have put in enough effort and leadership. Different ways to create hope for themselves as well as their colleagues and the community.

This 120-minute webinar will be scheduled on the Zoom Platform to discuss with Ministry of Education officials, education practitioners and other interested stakeholders, like-minded organizations and stakeholders:

  • Curriculum and pedagogy in the post-Covid world – identifying aspects of teacher education, and especially preparation for reaching out to female students and building education as a gender-changing place.
  • Highlighting education and benefits from epidemics for girls’ education: especially relevant from a life skills perspective
  • Ensure that teaching and learning methods are adapted from digital and mixed learning solutions designed during covid-induced school lockdowns.
  • Policy level changes and priorities by civil society
  • Room to read methods and techniques to ensure this
