The residential school hostel in Assam will reopen in November

Residential school hostels in Assam will be fully reopened from November 1.

According to the latest guidelines issued by the state education department, hostels will reopen for students in grades 1 to 8, while students in grades 9 and 11 will be able to stay in hostels from October 19. Final year undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) students are already living in hostels.

The rest of the UG and PG course students will be allowed to enter their hostels before November 1, according to education department sources.

Due to the improved Covid-19 situation, the Government of Assam is pleased to announce that from October 19, 2021, residential school / day boarding school hostels will be allowed to operate for classes IX and XI, where classes I to VIII will begin. November 1, 2021, according to an official.

It said that in light of the Covid-19, all safety standards must be strictly adhered to.

Despite having a positive rate of more than 1 per cent in just a few districts of Assam, education officials are confident that both dormitory and offline sessions will work well.

On the other hand, the education department has indicated that if the positive rate in any district exceeds 2 per cent on any given day, the deputy commissioner will close the educational institutions in agreement with the mission director of the National Health Mission in Assam.
