WSO2 announces the general availability of the Choreo digital platform as a service

The Choreo GA release helps teams move digital apps from concept to production; As well as adding VS code and graphical code editing, CIAM, Marketplace, deep GitHub integration and much more.

London, United Kingdom – 30 March 2022 – More than ever, the ability to rapidly innovate new digital products and services is critical to enterprise strategies for market differentiation, growth and profitability. However, these initiatives are often stalled due to the complexity of creating digital platforms and the lack of developers with the right skills. Today, a digital platform called WSO2 Services (Digital PaaS) is reducing these barriers to innovation with the general availability (GA) of Choreo.

Choreo gives companies the ability to quickly deliver new digital experiences through the creation of services, integration and the creation and deployment of APIs that take hours or days more than the weeks or months taken in most projects today. The all-inclusive platform eliminates the complexities of cloud-native infrastructure so that development teams can, for the first time, quickly create, compose, collaborate, reuse and deliver API-driven business logic. Key benefits include:

Increase the productivity of the developer. As the first commercial solution built in Ballerina Cloud Native, an open-source programming language and runtime, Choreo is the only platform that enables developers of various skill levels to create apps using graphical views of code, a text view of code. Or both simultaneously with complete round-trip synchronization. Developers can focus on creating the key argument they need in a simplified environment to achieve greater productivity and a much faster time to market with the development of artificial intelligence (AI) support.

Simplified DevOps and deployments. Choreo, which runs on the Microsoft Azure Cloud Platform, offers custom tooling and scripting with built-in multi-stage, continuous integration / continuous delivery (CI / CD) and in-depth monitoring of applications in Cubernet to automatically create, test and deploy. This enables teams to focus on building production-ready applications rather than managing the underlying infrastructure.

Security and governance by default. With Choreo, services, integration and APIs are protected and managed by default. The platform has an open value-based API gateway with security and rate limiting, robust authentication and authentication, and encryption for all messages. Corio also provides built-in, flexible administration that helps automate API lifecycle management.

“The ability to deliver new digital products and services quickly separates market leaders from followers in almost every industry,” said Eric Newcomer, WSO2 Chief Technology Officer. “The Corio Digital Platform democratizes the capabilities needed to create cloud-based apps and services as a service. Developers can now collaborate instantly on creating, deploying, securing and monetizing APIs, integrations and services that provide business value and great customer experience.”

“A modern digital PaaS should blur the lines between app development, integration and security, and democratize participation in providing a digital experience without too much technical overhead. WSO2’s Choreo offers a platform for both developers and business experts to get their weapons around the complexities of creating and deploying API-powered cloud native applications, ”said Jason English, Chief Analyst, Intex.

What’s new in the Choreo GA release?
The beta version of Choreo was first launched in June 2021 and has been used by around 10,000 developers worldwide. The Choreo GA release, available today, features significant new capabilities that have been added since Choreo’s debut.

Integration with Microsoft Visual Studio code (VS Code) enables developers to use the widely accepted VS code source-code editor in a web browser while working for a seamless, as well as pro-code and graphical low-code editing experience within Corio.

A new Corio Marketplace Allows developers to easily discover and reuse integration, services or other APIs; Publish their own work as API in a few clicks; And share and collaborate with developers both internally and externally Commonly used systems include hundreds of pre-built connectors to help developers jump start in various integrations in the marketplace.

Advanced GitHub integration Collaborative code facilitates development, revision, commit, etc., since any code created in Choreo is now stored in a private GitHub repository exclusively for each component. Development teams can bring and operate their own GitHub repository while taking full Choreo advantage. Enterprises can then take the free lock-in code stored on GitHub and run it wherever they please.

Protected by Asgardeo IDaaS Since WSO2, Choreo has expanded on its integrated identity and access management (IAM), security and governance capabilities and now enables companies to provide secure, intuitive and personalized digital experiences through Customer IAM (CIAM).

New projects and group elements Choreo’s functionality allows developers to organize their components into projects for easy maintenance. One or more of these elements can then be grouped into a project in Choreo, which is highly effective when there are many projects.

“Providing cloud native applications is a challenging, time-consuming process,” said Kanchana Vikramasinghe, Vice President and General Manager, WSO2 Integration Business Unit. “Our Choreo Digital PaaS hides that complexity, so developers, the DevOps team, and site reliability engineers can efficiently create, deploy, monitor, secure, and manage applications, APIs, and integrations to drive their digital innovation.”
